For many years, I was addicted to Taco Bell Meximelts, but they gradually quadrupled in price over the years, until they were dropped from the menu because people didn't buy them anymore. A few months later, I ordered one, and the woman at the window told me to order a cheese tortilla with added meat and pico de gallo. And it was cheaper than the a Meximelt! Now I just order a soft taco with no lettuce and added pico de gallo. After all, Taco Bell is famous for using the same seven ingredients for everything they make, just in different combinations and ratios.
It appears that with the newly overhauled Cravings Value Menu, you can play the same type of game and save big over ordering a quesadilla, which costs six to seven dollars, depending on the ingredients. The Cravings Value Menu items are all $3 and under, although this menu hack will add some. Dennis Lee at The Takeout explains how to order the new "Stacker" and get a quesadilla for about half the price. This would be easier to do on the Taco Bell ordering app, since explaining it to a tired worker through the drive-through speaker will likely be misunderstood, unless everyone in your neighborhood is doing the same thing.
