VnExpress International reports that a bakery in the town of Long Xuyên in the Mekong Delta region of southern Vietnam offers loaves of bread shaped to resemble what was once a common sight in the river: crocodiles. Each one is about 28 inches long and weighs 4.4 pounds.
This video shows the preparation process. Baker Nguyen Van Luan explains that his chefs shape the dough, then texture it to have the skin and eyes of a crocodile. After baking, they brush on butter and sesame seeds.
The bakery’s customers appear to appreciate the novelty of the crocodile loaves, as well as the other animal shapes that bread comes in.
