When I was a kid, the most common way that I encountered hot dogs was boiled on the stove. The water that was left in the pot after the hot dogs were removed was almost always discarded. It was certainly not regarded as a treat.
7-Eleven appears to take a different view, although its hot dog water canned drink is designed to resemble the hot dogs cooked on its iconic rolling grills. Yahoo! News reports that the convenience store chain is collaborating with Miracle Seltzer to offer a sparkling water drink. I doubt that it needs to be seasoned with mustard or relish, but the 7-Eleven clerks probably won’t stop you.
