In retrospect, this should have been an obvious choice.
I live in Texas, where empanadas are a staple of everyday life. Still, I have yet to encounter this prehistoric variant. Redditor /u/crwhitt offers this image, but is probably not the inventor of dinosaur empanadas. There are many images and even recipes for these treats online.
Empanadas are a common Latin American pastry. They are sometimes hearty dumplings filled with savory meats and at other times are desserts filled with sweet jellies. They’re usually baked, although pan-frying is not unknown.
It would appear that just a few pinches of dough can make them resemble stegosauri.
