Ramen Flavored Like the Poisonous Fugu Fish

The fugu is a species of puffer fish that is a considered a delicacy in Japan. That’s due in part to the danger associating with eating it. Parts of the fish contain tetrodotoxin, a deadly neurotoxin. It’s still possible to eat the fugu if the poisonous parts are removed. Chefs in Japan are required to get advanced training and licensure in this procedure to serve fugu.

Fugu is thus very expensive. Fugu-flavored ramen is less so. Sora News 24 reports iconic ramen manufacturer Nissin now offers a variety of instant ramen that is, allegedly, made to taste like fugu.
