I missed an amazing culinary event last week when, for a limited time, Subway offered a revolutionary new sandwich design called the SubMelt. It’s basically a Cadbury Creme Egg sandwich. The Star reports that these were available to 500 lucky people at four Subway locations in the UK.
Note that I call this sandwich the second greatest. That’s with reason. The greatest sandwich ever invented is, of course, the Reuben, which has corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese served on rye bread.
So now, thanks to this invention by Subway and Cadbury, we can advance the frontier of sandwich development by creating a sandwich that has melted Cadbury Creme Eggs, corned beef, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese on a split rye loaf. Call it the Creuben.
