Burger King restaurants in Thailand have rolled out a new cheeseburger. It has twenty slices of American cheese on a bun, but no burger! They call it the "real cheeseburger." Strangely, promotional images show the cheese as being slightly melted, while video from random people show it as just stacked slices of cheese, like they just came out of a box.
They've been selling like hotcakes, but that may be because of the low promotional price. At least one customer said he took the sandwich home and stored most of the cheese in the refrigerator for later. American cheese is quite popular in Thailand. If the point is to garner viral attention, it has worked. If the point was to use up an excess of cheese, they've done that and some outlets have had to limit the number of real cheeseburgers sold in a day. Eater points out that this is just too much, not only for this sandwich, but for all sandwiches that try to outdo every other sandwich, mainly for publicity.
