If you've never heard of the pornstar martini, you will be forgiven. It was invented a mere twenty years ago and quickly became globally coveted. However, it didn't really catch on in the United States until recently. It's not a martini in any sense of the word. The recipe varies among bartenders, but the basic ingredients are vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, and passion fruit purée. While that sounds like flavor overload, the drink is served with a sidecar of champagne as a palate cleanser.
The staff at Punch decided to try out the various incarnations of the pornstar martini and find out which is best. Early in their research, they decided that recipes that used vanilla bean infusions instead of vanilla flavored vodka were superior. After these folks who have the best jobs in the world concluded their extensive research, they decided that only two pornstar martinis stood head and shoulders above the rest. The winning recipe came from Brian Evans of Sunday Hospitality, which comprises three New York bars. The other was a concoction called the Only Fans martini from Kevin Beary of Chicago’s Three Dots and a Dash.
